Boards and entrance preparation dominate the focus of students who are serious about their careers throughout the first two years in college.
The natural progression of science students going in for B Sc, Commerce students going for B com and arts students opting for BA is no longer the case.

Students during their tenure of 11th and 12th standards and while preparing for their entrances do realize the toughness or do ability from their end. Some are motivated, some are doubtful yet carry on and some just give up.

It becomes even better, if this is done even before the stream is chosen in 11th or the subject combinations are chosen. This saves the trouble of the child going through the entire syllabus of 11th standard, the disappointment of not being able to cope with it and then taking a turn and restarting all over again.
Taking career guidance sessions with aptitude test and career counsellors with credible background is the answer to avoid making wrong choices.
